PEAK is a game that is mostly learned through experimentation and trial and error. At the START of every RUN you'll find a guide book at the crash site nudging you in a certain direction, having a preface saying a bunch of GARBAGE, but the rules are more Important. (its just the rules)
RULE 0 - "Never abandon a friend in need!"
If you do this and get 600 meters away from them Scoutmaster will spawn. That is bad. Scoutmaster will chase you and kill you. To survive Scoutmaster you just need a PITON, but there are other criteria's you can meet for him to stop chasing you... but PITON is the best.
Other ways to stop the Scoutmaster:
The target player passes out or dies
The target player gets 1320 meters above or away from him
The targeted player stops being the highest (wtv that means)
The target player gets within 128 (vertically) of the second highest player
There is another player within 24 meters of the targeted player
He can also be summoned from the Scoutmaster's Bugle.
When a player is targeted by the Scoutmaster, their screen will become desaturated and covered in static. The intensity of these effects depends on the distance to the Scoutmaster, reaching its maximum at 8 meters and fading out completely at 80 meters.
RULE 1 - "Keep moving!"
Just says some BS on how you need to get to the top of the PEAK. Other than that it tells you the basic keys:
WSAD for movement
MOUSE to look around (just move your mouse)
SHIFT to Sprint
You can always change your keybind in the rebind keybinds button when you click ESC in game.
RULE 2
Has even more BS and more keybinds:
SPACE to jump - while holding SHIFT and you click SPACE you'll lose more Stamina
HOLD LEFT CLICK (with an empty hand) will allow you to grab the wall and climb up
SPACE (in air) will also grab the wall
SHIFT while climbing will lunge you up - loses the same amount of stamina from a SHIFT+SPACE (aka Sprint Jump)
RULE 3 - "Always Lend a hand!"
When on a ledge you can STAND on, you can RIGHT CLICK with an empty hand to help up a friend, making it easier for you and them to climb up together.
CTRL will make you crouch - while holding CTRL not that many things you need to crouch for but still helpful.
RULE 4 - "Stay Alert, Stay Alive!"
The guidebook says ALOT about looking at the stamina bar. Here is what you should be more worried about in your stamina bar:
HUNGER & WEIGHT
Hunger is a BIG PROBLEM in groups of 3 and 4. You'll need more food and it will be harder to keep your hunger down.
Weight is not that much of a problem. You'll always have weight, just make sure you don't have junk you know you won't use like a cannon (unless you're going for a BADGE).
There's more like Injury, Poison, Cold, Heat, Thorns, Drowsy, Curse, Spores, and Web. I'll go over them in the Stamina Bar section.
RULE 6 - "Stay Hungry (Actually, Don't)"
Just tells you to look after your Hunger.
RULE 7 - "Don't Overpack"
Just don't have junk you won't use. Think ahead of time on what you need and don't need.
RULE 8 - "Keep an eye out!"
There are chests around the map. You'll find open as many as you can find. Also MIDDLE MOUSE BUTTON will ping a location.

Controls
Climbing & Stamina Basics
To reach the Peak, you must climb the mountain by holding left click near surfaces and moving. Most surfaces are climbable.
Climbing uses stamina. If it runs out, you'll slip and fall until it regenerates. Bonus stamina from certain foods acts as a backup when your main stamina is gone.
Press Shift to lunge for a small boost (costs stamina). You can also right click to help pull teammates up if you're above them, but it may pull you slightly too.
For teamwork, crouch so a friend can stand on you and jump for a free boost. They can then pull you up.
You can also hold Shift to sprint, but it drains stamina.
Communication
Communication is key in PEAK. It uses proximity voice chat (auto, push-to-talk, or mute).
Use Middle Click to ping locations for teammates.
TIP: Press R to emote but be careful, "Play dead" can make you fall.
Challenges & Hazards
The island's difficulty is influenced by many things, like your skill, your team's skill, the map layout, the current Ascent, available loot, your distance from teammates, and how quickly you climb.
There are plenty of tools to help you handle these challenges so don't get discouraged if you fail, just try again!
Backpack
A Backpack adds 4 additional inventory slots, using slot 4. Place the Backpack down and hold E to open its storage menu. You can store or retrieve items from the Backpack through the menu.
Backpacks are shared storage, allowing both you and your teammates to access the items inside.
Fanny Pack
The Fanny Pack is equipped in the fourth slot and provides 2 additional item slots.
Lore
Scoutmaster Myres was the leader of his own troop of Scouts, having spent over 40 years as a Scoutmaster. He wrote the Guidebook found at the crash site on the Shore, and his diary also makes up the scrolls found at the campfires.
According to his diary, he and his scouts were stranded on the island after their ship had crashed. They worked together to climb and reach the Peak. The Scoutmaster was documenting their journey in his diary, while also writing additional pages for his famous guidebook.
While climbing the Alpine, Myres came across a Napberry and ended up falling asleep. While he was unconscious, his scouts left him behind to continue their climb. After waking up, Scoutmaster Myres lost his mind over the scouts leaving him for dead. At some point, it is assumed that he died and became the vengeful, skeletal undead monster that he appears as in the game.
Scouts & Scoutmaster
Scouts
Scouts are the playable characters that travel through PEAK. Scouts can help each other by carrying equipment, healing teammates, reviving downed players, and using certain items that interact specifically with other Scouts.
Some mystical items have special effects when used on Scouts and can be used to support or sacrifice teammates.
Scout Statues
Scout Statues can be found throughout the first & fourth biomes. Each of the four statues is associated with a unique mystical Amulet.
The four Amulets are:
Scout's Tenacity
Can be used on yourself or another Scout
Grants the targeted Scout Invincibility for 10 seconds
Heals up to 60 Injury, Spores, Poison, Cold, Heat, and Drowsy
Inflicts 10–30 Petrify on the user depending on how much was healed
Scout's Initiative
Activates an effect that lifts the user and nearby Scouts into the air
Grants affected Scouts Wind Walk
Inflicts 7.5 Petrify on the user
Scout's Generosity
Duplicates a targeted item
Duplicating a normal item inflicts 25 Petrify
Duplicating a Mystical item inflicts 45 Petrify
Scout's Ambition
Creates an aura around the user that grants Scouts within range Infinite Stamina
Inflicts 30 Petrify on the user when activated
Scout's Honor
Scout's Honor is created by transforming the Strange Gem using the four Amulets.
After obtaining Scout's Honor, activate it to teleport all players to Nadir. Nadir contains the final part of the Scoutmaster quest.
The Scoutmaster Quest
The Scoutmaster quest is a special progression involving the four Scout Amulets, the Stone Scout, Scout's Honor, and Nadir.
Step 1 - Find the Four Amulets
Find the Scout Statues in the first four biomes and obtain:
Scout's Tenacity
Scout's Initiative
Scout's Generosity
Scout's Ambition
All four Amulets are required.
Step 2 - Find the Stone Scout
After obtaining all four Amulets, reach the Stone Scout located behind the Peak. Give the four Amulets to the Stone Scout. This transforms the Strange Gem and allows it to become Scout's Honor.
Step 3 - Obtain Scout's Honor
After the Strange Gem has been transformed, obtain Scout's Honor. Scout's Honor is the item needed to reach Nadir.
Step 4 - Travel to Nadir
Activate Scout's Honor and all players are teleported to Nadir.
Step 5 - Free the Scoutmaster
At Nadir, commune with the Scoutmaster's soul and progress through the area. Reach the top of Nadir to escape.
Status Effects (Stamina Bar)
Over the course of your climb you will have many status effects accumulated in your stamina bar, the majority of which deplete over time:
Weight: Gained when carrying items or other Scouts and does not deplete over time. It can be removed by throwing out (or consuming) carried stuff.
HINT: ANTI-Rope and Balloons take away Weight (ONE Balloon Bunch will fully take your weight away).
Hunger: Gained naturally over time. It can be removed by eating food. (DUH)
Injury: Gained when you take damage from falls or other ways. Doesn't go away over time so you'll need a Bandage or another way to heal you like Cure-All.
Poison: Unlike Injury it goes away over time but if you want it to go away faster Antidote will help or Cure-all. There's other items too.
Cold: Gained during a blizzard in the alpine or if on ascent 5+ you'll gain cold at night.
Heat: Gained from campfire, Scorchberry or the sunlight in Mesa.
Thorns: AVOID tumbleweed or touching cacti. You can remove thorns yourself or have a friend help.
Drowsy: Only a few items give you drowsy like eating an uncooked lollipop or drinking an Energy Drink. There is also a Napberry - stay away from it. Same with a blow-dart if your friend shoots you with it you could die as you fall asleep really fast and can slide down the Mountain and fall into something that can kill you.
Curse: Only way to get rid of it 100% is cure-all or you can gamble with Pandora's Lunchbox. You gain it from being revived by Statue or Effigy (or if you get turned into a skeleton).
Spores: Gained by consuming Shroomberries, standing inside a spore cloud in the Roots, or by being bitten by a zombie. It does deplete after some time unless bitten from zombie - it takes a lot longer to go away on its own.
