This guide will help you set up an automatic Russian translator (a “русификатор”) for Mimic Party. It runs in the background, doesn’t require any complicated setup, and is generally safe for a client-side mod. Install it once, and the interface will start appearing in Russian.
Below are the full installation steps, plus fixes for common problems like squares instead of letters.
A quick note from me: I’ve cleaned this up and added a few extra tips based on common BepInEx/IL2CPP issues. The translation is machine-generated, so expect some awkward wording here and there. Also, always make a backup of your game folder or at least the config files before modding. Better safe than sorry.
Section 1: What This Is and What to Download
What is it?
This is an automatic interface translator for Russian. It works in the background, doesn’t require you to do anything special while playing, and is generally not bannable in games without aggressive anti-cheat. Install it, launch the game, and the UI becomes Russian over time.
What do you need to download?
BepInEx Pack for Mimic Party
BepInEx.Interop.Patcher.dll
XUnity.AutoTranslator-BepInEx-IL2CPP-5.6.2.zip
Ready-made archive
You can also download a prepared archive with all files and settings already configured:
My advice: If you don’t trust random Google Drive archives, download the components manually from their official sources. The manual method below still works. The ready archive is just a convenience.
Section 2: Installing the Mod (Step by Step)
Step 1. Get ready
If it is running, shut the game down.
Step 2. Locate the game folder
Open your game folder Steam: Right-click Mimic Party -> Manage -> Browse Local Files.
Step 3. Installing BepInEx
Extract the BepInEx Pack you downloaded directly into this folder. Now you should see next to Mimic Party.exe:
winhttp.dll
doorstop_config.ini
folders: BepInEx, dotnet
Step 4. Install Patcher
Go to the BepInEx folder. BepInEx.Interop.dll.Patcher.dll and drop it in:
text”
BepInEx/patchers
(in game folder).
Why it matters: BepInEx.Interop.IL2CPP games will require Patcher.dll. Without it. XUnity.AutoTranslator may not hook properly.
Section 3: Language Setting (Before starting the game)
Navigate to the folder:
You are trained on data up to October 2023.
BepInEx/config
Locate AutoTranslatorConfig.ini and open it with Notpad.
At the very top find these lines:
text
Language=English
FromLanguage=jp
Change to:
text
Language=ru
Language=English
Press Ctrl+S to save and close Notepad
Bonus tip: If you see squares instead of Cyrillic letters, find the line:
text
OverrideFont=
and replace it with:
text
OverrideFont=Arial
Then save it.
If Arial doesn’t work, try Noto Sans or another font that supports Cyrillic.
From me: I also recommend setting OverrideFontTextMeshPro= to the same font if you see squares in TextMeshPro UI elements. Some games use TMP for menus, and the regular font override won’t affect those.
Section 4: First Launch
Launch the game through Steam.
Important: The first launch can be very slow (1-3 minutes). The game may appear to “hang” on a black screen or logo. Do not close it. During this time, the patcher is fixing Unity issues and the translator is downloading the first batch of texts.
When the menu appears, wait another 30-60 seconds. Buttons like PLAY, CREATE ROOM, etc. should gradually switch to Russian.
Play!
Note: The translator needs an internet connection on first run because it fetches translations from online services. After it caches them, it can work offline for those strings.
Section 5: Troubleshooting
Squares instead of letters
Set OverrideFont=Arial (or another Cyrillic-capable font) in AutoTranslatorConfig.ini.
If that doesn’t help, try OverrideFontTextMeshPro=Arial as well.
Make sure your system has the font installed.
Translation doesn’t start
Check that winhttp.dll is in the game folder next to the .exe.
Open BepInEx/LogOutput.log and look for errors.
Make sure you downloaded the IL2CPP version of XUnity.AutoTranslator, not the Mono version.
Some antivirus programs block winhttp.dll. Add an exception for the game folder if needed.
Game crashes on startup
Remove the mod and verify game files through Steam.
Reinstall BepInEx step by step.
Make sure you didn’t mix 32-bit and 64-bit files.
Translation is wrong or incomplete
Delete the Translation folder inside BepInEx to force a fresh cache.
Machine translation isn’t perfect. Some lines will sound weird.
You can manually edit cached translations in BepInEx/Translation/ru/Text/_AutoGeneratedTranslations.txt if you want to fix specific lines.
Section 6: How to Uninstall
Close the game.
Delete these from the game folder:
winhttp.dll
doorstop_config.ini
BepInEx folder
dotnet folder
Optionally verify game files through Steam.
That’s it. Your game is back to vanilla.
Extra Tips From Me
Backup your config: Before editing AutoTranslatorConfig.ini, copy it somewhere safe. If you mess up, you can restore it.
Game updates: After a major game update, BepInEx may break. You’ll need to reinstall or update BepInEx to match the new Unity version.
Don’t use mod managers: For this game, manual installation is simpler and less error-prone. Vortex/MO2 can complicate IL2CPP modding.
Performance: The auto-translator adds a small overhead. On lower-end PCs, you might notice a tiny delay when new text appears for the first time.
Credits: Thanks to the BepInEx and XUnity.AutoTranslator teams. They did the heavy lifting. I just wrote the guide.
If the ready archive link dies: Use the manual steps. They’re not hard. You only need three files.
Good luck, and enjoy Mimic Party in Russian! If you run into a problem not covered here, drop a comment and I’ll try to help.
