Alright, so if you're like me, you've seen those startup logos about a hundred times and you just want to get to the menu. Here's how to skip them. It's stupidly simple.

Before you start:

Make sure you've launched the game at least once and gotten to the main menu. Then close the game completely. This is important because the game needs to have created the folder structure you're about to mess with.

Also, I only tested this on the Steam version. I have no idea if it works on Game Pass. If you try it on Game Pass and it works (or doesn't), let me know in the comments.

Step 1: Find where the game is installed

If you don't know how to do this:

Right-click "Gears of War: E-Day" in your Steam library

Click Properties

Go to Installed Files

Click Browse...

That'll open the folder where the game lives.

Step 2: Dig into the movie folder

Once you're in the install directory, go to:

FairlightConcept -> Content -> Movies

(Yeah, "FairlightConcept" is the internal name or something. Don't ask me why.)

Step 3: Make a backup folder

Inside the Movies folder, create a new folder and call it !BACKUP (the exclamation mark just makes it show up at the top, which is handy).

Step 4: Move the intro file

Find the file named Bootflow_Logos.bk2 and drag it into your new !BACKUP folder.

That's it. The game will no longer find that file, so it skips the logos and goes straight to the menu.

What your folder should look like after

You should have the !BACKUP folder sitting there with Bootflow_Logos.bk2 inside it, and no Bootflow_Logos.bk2 in the main Movies folder.

Now launch the game and enjoy

No more logos. You're welcome.

How to find the install location (again, for anyone who skipped it)

Right-click the game in Steam -> Properties -> Installed Files -> Browse...

A few extra things I want to add

This is safe. You're not modifying any game code, you're just moving a video file. It won't trigger anti-cheat or anything like that. It's just a cutscene file.

To undo it, just move Bootflow_Logos.bk2 back from !BACKUP into the Movies folder. Or delete the !BACKUP folder and verify your game files through Steam. Both work.

If the game updates and the intro comes back, that's normal. Updates sometimes replace files. Just do the same steps again. It takes ten seconds.

If you don't see the Movies folder at all, make sure you actually launched the game once first. If you still don't see it, you might be in the wrong install directory.

For Game Pass users: I genuinely don't know if the folder structure is the same. It might be. It might not. If you try it, report back.

Why does this work? The game just looks for that specific file when it starts. If it's not there, it skips that step. No file, no logos. Simple as that.

Does this break anything? Nope. It's just a startup video. Nothing else uses it.

Will this affect achievements? No. It's a video file. You're fine.

Problems?

If something doesn't work, drop a comment below and I'll try to help. If you find a better way or a fix for a different version, let me know and I'll add it to the guide.

That's it. Go enjoy the game without staring at logos for 30 seconds every time.
