Just like last year, NBA 2K27 has brought back the highly rewarding game modes of SK (Street Kings) and OCA (Open Court Athletics). That said, just jumping into one of those modes isn't going to be the most efficient approach, each game mode has its own advantages, and knowing which one to use for what will save you a ton of time.
Badges
If you're looking to grind badges, OCA is your best bet. Start there and complete Dion's Challenge, it rewards you with 3x badge token progression for the first completion, then reverts to normal progression afterward. Make sure you use this daily, as the 3x badge progression resets every day at 3 AM ET. The fact that OCA lets you play full games to 21 or 25 points means you have more opportunities to earn badge progress compared to other modes.
XP and VC
If OCA isn't your cup of tea, there's always a backup plan, but it requires a bit of RNG. SK (Street Kings) introduced Legendary opponents this year. If you manage to beat them, you'll get 5x badge progression and a nice chunk of VC. They show up randomly and completely replace the opposing team, but they're a little tougher to play against.
Here's a step by step method to maximise your VC gains:
Enter the Street Kings building. If you're not in a forest looking park, turn around and head toward what seems to be the exit and choose Hollows Park. If Hollows Park doesn't show up in the list, that means you're already there, it looks like a forest, you'll know when you're in it.
Go to the board and find Crypto The Clown. He's one of the shortest players on the court, doesn't shoot very well, and is honestly pretty easy to guard and contest. I have a 30-35 block rating on a 6'4" build, so I'm speaking from experience.
Beat him 5 times. After your fifth win, go back to the board and press "R1" or "RB" three times – you should now be on the tab called "Trials".
If this is your first time doing this, Crypto The Clown should be at the very top of the list. Play his trial, it'll give you a set of rules. Beat him once using those rules, and he'll become the best version of himself, and he'll be on your team.
Next, go back to the board and find Cryo Step. Repeat the same process you did with Crypto The Clown. I've just set you up for the next method for XP and VC.
Once you've finished both of those, you should have encountered around 2 different Legendary opponents within the 10 games you played, though results may vary. Each game takes about 3-5 minutes, so depending on your speed, you should be done within 30 minutes to an hour.
Now go to Rucker Park and play a tournament. Crypto is a Guard and Cryo Step is a Big. No matter who you're playing against, even Shaq, they can guard and score. Depending on your build, you might want to arrange them differently, but you're guaranteed a full squad with rebounding, finishing, and defensive capabilities. Shooting is a little iffy, as expected, but they get the job done.
Tournament VC Rewards:
Win on first try: 5,000 VC
Win on second attempt: 2,500 VC
Three tries or more: 1,000 VC
Each tournament is 6 games or less. You can rerun and complete this within 30 minutes, that's 10,000+ VC per hour. Add in the fact that you'll also have chances to face Legendary opponents for the 5x multiplier, and the potential gains become even larger.
Street Kings Levels
I haven't mentioned the actual Street Kings levels that also grant you VC and other rewards throughout, mainly because they're different for every player. Your rewards depend on teammate grade, how you play, what you choose to do during games, and other factors. That said, those rewards aren't factored into the calculations above, so the actual VC gains are currently higher than what I've written here.
Final Tips
Always do Dion's Challenge daily – the 3x badge progression is too valuable to miss.
Focus on OCA for badges – the full games to 21 or 25 give you more time to rack up progress.
Use the Hollows Park method for VC – it's the most consistent way to farm VC efficiently.
Grind Crypto and Cryo Step – unlocking them as teammates makes Rucker Park tournaments much easier.
Be patient with Legendary opponents – they're random, but the 5x multiplier is worth the wait.
