BattleshipCrafting is a topdown space shooter roguelike where you build a battleship from scratch and fight to survive against endless waves of enemies. The Earth has been destroyed, and a mysterious force has transformed you into a space fighter to take revenge on the aliens. It's the kind of game that starts simple you pick a mech, you pick a weapon, you shoot but quickly becomes a complex puzzle of placement, synergy, and build optimization.
The core loop is wavebased survival. You fight through waves of enemies, collect gems by staying within their circles, and then spend those gems in a shop for new weapons and items. After each wave, you choose a perk from four random options, and the game gives you the freedom to reroll both wave rewards and shop inventory for a price. It's a system that rewards experimentation and punishes complacency, and every run feels like a new opportunity to break the game in a different way.
What makes it stand out is the gridbased placement system. Your ship has a square grid of tiles, and every weapon and item you acquire must be placed somewhere on that grid to take effect. Items have dots extending from them in different directions, and a weapon only benefits from an item's bonuses if it's placed on one of those dots. This turns inventory management into a spatial puzzle you're not just collecting gear, you're arranging it in a way that maximizes synergy. If you have two weapons of the same type and level, you can stack them on top of each other to combine them and increase their level, which opens up even more strategic depth.
The game features 25 levels and an endless mode, with six starting mechs that unlock as you play. Each mech has its own special ability, though the real focus is on weapons and the builds you create around them. There's also a bloodline system that randomly strengthens your spaceship, adding another layer of roguelike variation to every run. It was developed by a solo developer, and released on July 27, 2026.
Who's it for?
If you love roguelikes like Vampire Survivors or Brotato but want something with more handson customization and spatial strategy, this is exactly your kind of game. If you enjoy building broken combos and experimenting with placementbased synergies, the grid system offers a genuinely fresh twist on the genre. It's also for players who appreciate solodeveloped indie projects with a clear vision and a lot of replayability. And if you just want a complete roguelike you can sink hours into while chasing that perfect build, this one's got your name on it.
The game currently has 100% positive reviews based on 12 user reviews on Steam, though the community is still small, you're getting 25 levels, an endless mode, six mechs, hundreds of weapons and items, and a build system that will keep you experimenting for hours.
If the game has motivated you, I wish you success in winning!
