๐ Description
PinRogue is a hybrid of pinball and roguelike where physics, strategy, and chaos collide on a single table. You launch the ball, hit bumpers, build your multiplier and score, and between levels you spend the tickets you've earned in a shop on powerful upgrades. Each level is a race against time you need to hit a score target before the timer runs out, and the better you master the bounces and rhythm of the table, the bigger the combo you can build.
Gameplay and Controls
The basics are familiar to anyone who's ever played pinball: you use flippers to keep the ball in play and try to keep it alive as long as possible. PinRogue, however, adds a few modern tools. You have powerful flipper shots that let you set the pace from the very start, and an air dash an extra maneuver that gives you control over the ball in the most chaotic moments and lets you save situations that would be lost in classic pinball. Bumper hits build not only points but also multiplier and momentum, so aggressive, thoughtful routes are rewarded. Each level is like a small puzzle: you don't just have to survive, you have to optimize your run, because the fastest route to the goal is rarely the safest.
Roguelike Framework and Builds
What sets PinRogue apart from ordinary pinball games is its roguelike layer. Between levels you enter a shop where you spend currency on upgrades that shape the direction of your entire run. You're not just reacting to what happens on the table you're planning what comes next. The game features over 50 unique upgrades and many powerful balls, and the whole thing is designed to offer "endless build variety." You can go for a safe, repeatable strategy or take risks and look for combinations that suddenly explode your score. Those runs where everything clicks are the heart of the fun the moment your build starts breaking the game and points fly up faster than you can count them.
Levels, Difficulty, and Daily Run
The levels are large and partially procedural, which makes each run feel fresh while still letting you learn patterns and recognize valuable opportunities. On top of that, there are 5 difficulty levels, so you can start by calmly learning the systems and then gradually move into tighter margins and higher score requirements. For players who enjoy shared competition, there's a Daily Run a daily run with the same rules for everyone, perfect for comparing results and quick sessions. The game also has Steam Leaderboards, so chasing a spot on the list is baked into its DNA.
Platforms, and Reception
PinRogue was released on July 10, 2026 by couple of friends. The game runs on Windows and macOS, is made in Unity Engine. The system requirements are very approachable: an Intel Core i3, 4 GB RAM, and a graphics card compatible with OpenGL 2.1 are enough it will even run on integrated graphics. You only need 500 MB of free space.
As for reception, the game has a 100% positive rating on Steam, but based on only 3 reviews a very small sample, so it's hard to talk about a broad consensus. One aggregator rated it 42/100 for quality and 49/100 for value, recommending holding off until more opinions appear or a better price comes along. On the other hand, a MacGaming review calls it "an easy recommendation for Mac gamers who want short, repeatable runs, enjoy chasing a high score, and like experimenting with builds in roguelikes."
Who Is This Game For?
If you like pinball and want to try something that combines its instant satisfaction with longterm build planning, PinRogue is exactly for you. If you play roguelikes for the moments when your build suddenly "clicks" and starts breaking the game, the upgrade and unique ball system will give you plenty of room to experiment. It's also a good choice for people who enjoy short, repeatable sessions with score chasing and leaderboard competition the Daily Run and Steam Leaderboards are made for exactly that kind of player. If, however, you're looking for a deep story or a long campaign, PinRogue is not that title; it's an arcade game about score, rhythm, and builds.
On the plus side: very low system requirements, support for Windows and macOS, a low price with discounts, and a lot of build variety. On the minus side: only 3 Steam reviews so far, so the community is microscopic, and one aggregator suggests it's better to wait for more opinions or a deeper sale.
If this game has drawn you in, good luck taking the victory!
