Rampallians

๐Ÿ ENDED

๐Ÿ“ Description

Rampallians is a tactical PvP card battler that does something genuinely different with the deckbuilding formula. Instead of just slapping down units and attacking, you first have to build an economy. You play Gatherer cards to collect four resources Gold, Wood, Ore, and Food and then spend those resources to construct buildings, recruit units, and develop your settlement. It's a game where the strongest card in your hand is useless if you haven't invested in the infrastructure to play it, and that single twist changes everything about how you approach a match.

A Card Game Where the Economy Comes First

The core loop is built around a 40card deck chosen from nearly 400 available cards. Each match begins with a faction choice, and each faction plays radically differently. The Orcs are aggressive and fast, rushing you down before you can set up. The Humans are versatile and slower, able to transform their Gatherers into Units and upgrade them over time. The Elves emphasize magic and midgame strength, while the Dwarves offer a slower, more complex strategic path. Dragon cards can be slotted into any faction, adding another layer of deckbuilding freedom. Once combat begins, it's automated you position your attackers and defenders, then watch the battle unfold. That might sound like it reduces strategy, but the opposite is true. Positioning, timing, and resource allocation are all decided beforehand, and one bad call can cost you the match. After each battle, you choose whether to target your opponent's Gatherers, their support structures, or their Keep. Reduce the Keep to zero and you win.

Built for Every Kind of Player

The game is currently in Early Access, and the 1v1 PvP mode is fully playable. You can battle online against other players, set up a LAN match, or play passandplay on the same device. If you're not ready to face humans yet, you can practice against bots. The developers have been working on Rampallians for four years, and they're using Early Access to refine balance, squash bugs, and build the community. The full release is planned to add a singleplayer mapbased roguelike mode, giving solo players a complete campaign experience. The price will stay the same through and after Early Access, and the developers have committed to free content updates with no paytowin mechanics, ever.

Reception and AI Disclosure

The game is still very new, with only a handful of user reviews on Steam so far, so there's no broad consensus yet. One detailed review from The Drastik Measure praised it as "a promising Early Access card game with a strong mechanical foundation," highlighting the excellent tutorial that explains the game's systems clearly and the interesting combination of card play, resource management, and settlement building. The reviewer gave it a score of 7.5 out of 10. The developers are transparent about their use of AI: Generative AI was used minimally during coding, mostly for autocomplete, with less than 1% of the code being AIgenerated. More extensively, AI was used in the artwork process sketches were created by an artist, details were filled in by AI, and then artists corrected and refined the output.

System Requirements

The system requirements are mercifully low. Minimum: Windows 10/11 (64bit), an Intel Core i54210H or newer, 2 GB RAM, and an AMD Radeon R9 M370X or equivalent. This is a lightweight card game that will run on virtually any computer made in the last decade. A free demo is also available on Steam if you want to try before you buy.

Who Is This Game For?

If you love trading card games like Magic: The Gathering or Hearthstone but want something with a stronger emphasis on economy and settlement building a game where you have to earn the right to play your big cards this is exactly your kind of game. If you enjoy the strategic depth of autobattlers like Teamfight Tactics or Dota Underlords, the combat system will feel familiar while the resource management adds a fresh layer of decisionmaking. It's also for players who appreciate a game that's still growing and want to be part of shaping its development through community feedback. And if you just want a cheap, deep, endlessly replayable card game that doesn't demand a powerful PC and doesn't nickelanddime you with expansions and microtransactions, this one has your name on it.

f the game manages to get its hooks into you, I wish you the win!
