๐ Description
CARAVAN in the MAJIN WORLD is a turn-based JRPG where you don't get rich by slaying monsters you get rich by knowing when and where to trade. You lead a caravan across a fantasy continent inspired by both medieval and early modern periods, where Eastern and Western influences intertwine. Humans and Yoma coexist uneasily, nationalism is rising among humans, and the Yoma have gathered under the protection of the Majin ancient beings who have existed since antiquity. Once technology allowed ordinary humans to wield Flow Magic with ease, human ambition gave rise to an empire that began swallowing up towns across the continent. Your caravan is caught in the middle of it all, and the only way forward is to keep the wheels turning and the coin flowing.
The Core Gameplay
The heart of the experience is caravan trade. Defeating enemies does not earn you money in this game. Your caravan survives by transporting goods from town to town, studying regional prices and market trends, and profiting from price differences. A sharp merchant's eye is essential for surviving the caravan's harsh adventures. You travel across the continent, buying low and selling high, adapting your routes to shifting markets and the unfolding conflict between the Majin and humans. It is a game about economic survival as much as it is about combat, and knowing when to move and where to sell is the true thrill of caravan life.
Turn-Based Combat
When battle finds you, combat is turn-based and tactical. You plan your strategies at your own pace, using skills, Flow Magic, and adventure items alongside a unique Aiming Attack system that lets you manually target an enemy's weak point. Land one successfully and you deliver a satisfying burst of damage powerful enough to turn the battle around. Physical attacks consume Stamina, so effective resource management and tactical adaptation are the keys to victory. It is a system that rewards patience and planning over brute force, fitting the game's broader emphasis on strategic thinking.
A World Drawn in Manga
The visual presentation brings black-and-white manga into the game, with each screen designed in the style of a comic panel. NPCs self-talk their concerns through manga-style speech bubbles, giving the world a lived-in feel. Enemy soldiers think of their mothers back home; snake demons worry about their skin after molting. It is a world where reality and fantasy intertwine, and the comic-panel aesthetic reinforces that blend of the mundane and the magical.
A Cast of Travelers
Your caravan is led by Golden, a leader who keeps the group together through his natural merchant's instinct, providing valuable trading tips even though he does not fight. Ajisai, his adopted daughter, is the cheerful face of the caravan and despite her youthful appearance, she is remarkably strong, fighting with a Swordbreaker equally suited to offense and defense. Tonebi, a formerly wandering young man hired as the caravan's accountant, is responsible and dependable, his martial arts training allowing him to take part in battle. Kana, a young lady from the upper class of the Yika Empire, chose to accompany the caravan perhaps out of rebellion and hopes to publish a travelogue documenting the events she witnesses. Leizan, a swordswoman from the East, searches for a legendary TAW Blade and occasionally teaches Tonebi martial arts. Each character brings their own story and their own place in the caravan's journey.
Reception and Community
The game is very new and has only just been released, so there are no user reviews yet on Steam. That means there is no community consensus, no tips from other players, and no way to gauge how it holds up over time. It is a title that has slipped under the radar, and anyone who picks it up now would be discovering it before almost everyone else. The developer has already released a bug-fix patch, addressing issues with missing character art after game over and status data not resetting, which suggests active support for the game's early life.
System Requirements
Minimum: Windows 10 (64-bit), an Intel Core Ultra 7 or AMD Ryzen 7 series, 1 GB RAM, and a GPU with more than 3 GB graphic memory (on integrated GPU, use about 3 GB RAM space). You will need 600 MB of storage space. The game also runs on macOS and SteamOS / Linux. It is a lightweight install, though the graphics memory requirement is notable for a game of this scale.
Who Is This Game For?
If you love JRPGs where the economy matters as much as the combat where you are a merchant first and a fighter second, and your success depends on reading markets and knowing when to move this is exactly your kind of game. If you enjoy turn-based battles with tactical depth, the Aiming Attack system and Stamina management offer satisfying decisions in every fight. It is also for players who appreciate a manga-inspired visual style and a world that feels lived-in, with NPCs who have their own worries and their own stories. And if you just want a cheap, focused JRPG about a caravan caught between two worlds, trying to survive and profit while the continent burns around them, this one has your name on it.
If the game has you hooked, I wish you a victorious finish!
