📝 Description

The Göktürk: Caravan is a Silk Road caravan roguelite set in the seventh-century Göktürk Khaganate, where every kilo you load is a kilo of something else you leave behind. You lead a merchant House out of Ötüken, the seat of the Khaganate, sending iron and felt west and hoping to return with silk, turquoise, and Khotan jadeif the caravan returns at all. Gold dust is worth nine hundred a kilo, tallow is worth twelve, and the animals do not care which one they are carrying. That single trade-off is the whole game, and it never stops being interesting because the market at the far end has an opinion of its own.

The Road Forks, and You Choose

At every stage the road splits. A short leg through bandit country, or two more days along the river. Water you can carry, or water you have to find. What is on the button is what you get: the distance, the days, whose ground it is, and whether you have walked it before. Two hundred encounters wait on these roads, and they are not riddles with right answers. A flooded ford, a Tang commissioner with a ledger, a shaman who wants iron for his coat, a blind singer who knows four hundred lines of the Kagan's ancestry and will trade all of them for a place at the fire. Each answer costs something differentdays, silver, goods, or what your men think of you.

Paying Is Quickest. The Road Remembers That You Pay.

When riders come over the ridge, you can buy your way out, and it works. It works the second time too. By the third, word has gone round that this House pays, and the men who come for you are not asking for a toll anymore. That is the shape of the whole game: the cheap answer now is the expensive one later, and you can see it coming if you are paying attention.

The House Outlives the Master

Your caravan master has a name, a clan, and a childhood. A smith's son packs a load better; a boy raised on the border can talk his way past a spear. He earns what he learns on the road, and he loses every bit of it the day he dies. The House does not. It keeps its name, its banner, its treasury, its people, and its plots, and it keeps the roll of every master who ever went out for it and what became of him. A journey can end badly without the run ending with it.

Nineteen Rival Houses, and They Are Not Waiting

Every city already has Houses in it, holding most of what is worth holding. They earn while you are away, take the free plots, buy each other out, and send word offering to buy you out. Come home from a long road and the map has changed without you.

An Evening in the Caravanserai Yard

The game also includes three games played the way they were actually played. Aşık oyunuknock the knucklebones out of the scratched circle with a lead-weighted throw. Üç Taş and Dokuz Taşthree stones and nine, on lines drawn in the dust, against somebody who is genuinely trying to beat you. Play for silver or for a share of the load. The yard shuts for days afterwards, and a master known at every circle on the road gets back in sooner.

Reception and Community

The game is very new and has only just been released, so there are no user reviews yet on Steam. That means there is no community consensus, no tips from other players, and no way to gauge how it holds up over time. It is a title that has slipped under the radar, and anyone who picks it up now would be discovering it before almost everyone else. The game runs natively at 1280x800, the Steam Deck's resolution, and supports full controller play.

AI Content Disclosure

The store page does not currently list a generative AI content disclosure. All encounters, writing, and design appear to be human-made, and the game's focus on historical detail and cultural specificity suggests a research-driven approach rather than an AI-generated one. That said, the absence of a disclosure is not the same as a confirmation, so it is worth checking the store page directly if this is a concern for you.

System Requirements

Minimum: Windows 10 (version 1809) or later, 64-bit, 2 GB RAM, and 250 MB of storage space. The game is lightweight, runs natively at 1280x800 (the Steam Deck's resolution), and supports full controller play. It is a game that will run comfortably on virtually any computer made in the last decade, including the Steam Deck.

Who Is This Game For?

If you love roguelites that reward careful planning over twitch reflexeswhere the tension comes from deciding what to carry, which road to take, and whether to pay off the raiders or fightthis is exactly your kind of game. If you enjoy historical settings that feel lived-in, with encounters that are not puzzles to solve but situations to navigate, the two hundred events and the living world of rival Houses offer a depth that most roguelites never attempt. It is also for players who appreciate a game where failure is not the endthe House outlives the master, and every bad journey leaves the House stronger in ways that carry over. And if you just want a cheap, focused roguelite about trade, survival, and the long road west, this one has your name on it.

If you're excited by the game, may fortune favor your victory!
