Mini Reaper is a short but wonderfully atmospheric 3D platformer that pulls you in from the very first minute. Inspired by classic video game creepypastas, you play as a servant of Death himself, because Death decided to take a vacation and left you in charge. Your job is to collect lost souls in an abandoned mansion, but in true creepypasta fashion, the old game file hides a dark secret and something that has no intention of playing fair.
Gameplay is fast and precise. You run, jump, and explore a large, interconnected mansion map, searching for thirteen souls hidden both inside and outside the building. The controls are responsive, and the dash mechanic, while it takes some getting used to adds a real adrenaline rush during chases. As you collect more souls, a flying skull begins to appear in the mansion. It patrols the corridors and launches into pursuit the moment it spots you. You never know where it will show up, and its behavior is smart enough that it can vanish when you look at it, or when it bumps into something.
Visuals and sound are a major strength. The crunchy retro visuals, done in a lowpoly style, perfectly capture the feeling of a 90s game found somewhere deep on the dark web. The music and atmosphere are widely praised by players, and simply exploring the empty, slightly eerie mansion is a pleasure in itself. It all wraps up in a dark, short adventure that lasts around an hour.
Who's it for?
If you like short, intense experiences with a chill down your spine, inspired by creepypastas and retro aesthetics this one is for you. It's a great pick for fans of 3D platformers who want something unusual and aren't afraid to run from a terrifying skull. Mini Reaper is a great example of a solid indie horror that, despite its simple graphics, can genuinely scare you.
If the game has sparked your interest and kept you playing, I hope victory is yours!
