Promising demo, disappointing full game.
I played this game back when the demo first dropped, and honestly? It was an absolute blast with friends. You started in a house, could wander around beating up neighbours, raiding their homes for loot, and selling everything to buy upgrades and new gear. It had that classic Thief Simulator vibe is open, free, and full of potential. You could go at your own pace, see every nook and cranny and just enjoy the chaos.
But then the full game came out, and it felt completely different. You still break into houses, steal things, and fight people, but now everything is crammed into a strict time limit. The stages are short, fast paced, and you're even forced to hand over part of your earnings. Sure, you can eventually pay off what you owe and become free, but I never got that far, so I can't say for sure.
Overall, the demo had a much better feel with no timers, more freedom, and a much more immersive experience. The full release feels more like Payday, still fun in its own right, but it's missing the charm and open ended style that the demo promised. If you never played the demo, you'll probably enjoy the game more than I did. But for those of us who were there from the beginning, it's hard not to look at what could have been and feel a little disappointed.
