Bodycam is a game that doesn't quite know what it wants to be. You can tell a lot of care went into making the gunplay as realistic as possible.
The actual gameplay around those mechanics plays out like a classic arcade shooter. Spawn, run, shoot, die, respawn and repeat. There's no room for tactics, no time to plan, no sense of larger purpose. You're thrown into small, chaotic firefights that feel more like a twitch shooter than a tactical simulation.
And that clash is what really bothers me. When a game has such polished, realistic mechanics, it feels like it should lend itself to slower, more thoughtful gameplay. Bigger maps, better team coordination, actual objectives that make you feel like you're part of something bigger.
Maybe I just expected something different. Right now, Bodycam feels like an impressive tech demo, a stunning showcase of what's possible, but not yet a game that keeps you coming back. If the developers ever slow things down, and introduce real objectives, this could be something truly special. For now, it's a beautiful proof of concept, but not quite a game worth sticking with.
