A pleasant surprise with low expectations
Jedi Fallen Order is the most surprising title I've played this year, and that's saying something. Not just because my expectations were admittedly pretty low going in, but because the game genuinely achieves something brilliant. It didn't just meet my expectations; it completely blew past them.

Fallen Order looks like a carefully curated "greatest hits" compilation of the most beloved mechanics from single player games over the last decade. You've got bombastic cinematic set pieces that feel ripped straight from Uncharted. There are tombs to explore, puzzles to solve, and walls to scale that seem borrowed from the rebooted Tomb Raider trilogy. The combat system shares more than a few similarities with Sekiro – parries, posture, precise timing, it's all there.

The level design is absolutely masterpiece. The maps are intricate making exploration a genuine joy the first time around as you hunt for secrets and hidden optional bosses. But the real magic happens when you return to old areas with newly unlocked abilities, suddenly, paths that were previously blocked open up, and you're rewarded for remembering where they were. It's the kind of Metroidvania style progression that feels incredibly satisfying.

The difficulty is also well tuned. On the highest setting, it offers a solid challenge without ever crossing into frustration, this is definitely the way to go if you're experienced with action games like Sekiro. It punishes carelessness but rewards patience and skill, which is exactly what you want from this kind of combat.

The story is coherent and serviceable, with a cast of interesting characters that you'll likely want to learn more about. The one exception, sadly, is our protagonist. He never quite clicked with me, and that's the one thing that never really changed from my initial impressions. Still, the supporting cast more than makes up for it.

On the technical side, the game is rock solid. Great graphics, a polished PC port, and smooth performance throughout. The only issues I ran into during my playthrough were related to the forced Origin integration. Honestly, that's something they really can't drop soon enough. It's an unnecessary hurdle in an otherwise flawless experience.

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is a brilliant game that everyone should at least consider playing. Even if you're not particularly invested in the Star Wars universe. I'm not a massive fan of the saga myself, and I still had an absolute blast.

✅ Avantages:
  • Well balanced difficulty
  • Smooth performance on PC
  • Cinematic moments
  • Excellent levels design
  • Satisfying combat system
❌ Inconvénients:
  • Protagonist doesn't leave much of an impression
  • Story is notgroundbreaking
  • Limited customization
