Let's start with the core mechanic, which is hacking. It's been significantly improved. Everything works smoother, there's way more to interact with, and the addition of the drone and RC car adds a whole new layer to exploration and puzzle solving. Instead of dumping every ability on you right away, the game slowly introduces new hacks and gadgets as you progress. Upgrades are earned through followers, which you get by completing missions and activities. You also print new weapons and gadgets from a 3D printer, which is functionally the same as buying them from a shop, but it's the little touches like this that give the game its charm.

The story was one of the biggest weak points of the first game, it is poorly written, with a protagonist who wasn't particularly interesting. This time around, while the cast is a bit hipster and maybe a little too "mainstream," they actually have personality. The story itself isn't going to win any awards, but it stays engaging with some decent twists, a few original ideas, and a good amount of humor sprinkled throughout.

What truly impresses me, in both Watch Dogs games, is the world itself. It feels genuinely alive. NPCs is living their own lives. They play sports, fly drones, take phone calls, and go about their day. All this, along with a beautiful and diverse open world, creates some really solid immersion.

One feature of the game I really appreciate is how the phone works. Instead of just being a camera and a contacts list, it's got a full App Store. You can download things like Car On Demand, a media player, Nudle Maps, and more.

That said, it's not without its flaws. Missions can get a bit repetitive. There's a lot of variation in the play styles which does help keep things feeling fresh, but the core loop can get old after a while. Vehicle handling isn't the best, enemy AI is able to be hit or miss. All in all, Watch Dogs 2 is a game that I'd easily recommend to someone who loves open world games and exploring a living, breathing city. It's got its flaws, and can be a bit repetitive at times, but the overall experience is still a great one.
