This is going to be a fairly short. I spent a long time going back and forth on whether to give this a yes or a no, because there's a lot to love here, but there's also one thing that nearly made me walk away entirely.
Let's start with the good stuff. The gameplay is polished, responsive, and the weapons feel genuinely unique and fun to use. Even the upgrades I thought I'd hate turned out to be satisfying. The only thing I wish is that after maxing out all three levels of a weapon, there was some kind of endless sink. But what's there is good.
But now we get to the reason I was debating whether to recommend this game at all.
The screen shake.
I don't know if the frequency increases over time or if I just became less tolerant of it, but the more I played, the worse it seemed to get. It's heavy, it's constant, and it actively gets in the way of enjoying the game. It breaks immersion, it breaks enjoyment, and I honestly never understood how people could complain about motion sickness in video games. There were moments where the screen shake got so bad that I physically recoiled and had to turn away to stop myself from feeling like I was going to be sick. It's doing an absolute disservice to what I genuinely believe is one of the finest gunplays ever put into a video game. The way weapons handle, the responsiveness, the feel, it's more fun and addictive than Destiny at its peak.
If I could recommend this purely on gameplay, it would be a 100% unequivocal yes. The difficulty curve is flexible, you can gear and upgrade to suit your playstyle, and the system works.
But if you're someone who suffers from motion sickness, or if screen shake bothers you at all, this is probably a no. This game has one of the most egregious, invasive, and counter-intuitive screen shakes ever implemented in any video game to date.
